FAU men's basketball coach Dusty May featured guest at spring social

May 03, 2023

Florida Atlantic University men's basketball coach Dusty May, who guided the Owls to a Final Four appearance and its best season ever, was the featured guest at the Men Giving Back of South Palm Beach County's annual Spring Social at The Boca Raton.

May recently signed a 10-year extension with the school and told over 100 attendees at the event that community is important to him and his players.

"To be ingrained in the community is of utmost importance," said May, whose team fell 72-71 on a buzzer-beater by Lamont Butler of San Diego State with just seconds remaining in the semifinal game.

"Our players give back individually and as a group, because it has such an impact on so many people," he said. "You give where you live, and Men Giving Back is truly a testament to that."

Members and guests of Men Giving Back enjoyed a night of fun and philanthropy that included premium cigars, top-shelf rum tasting, sushi and seafood, and an inspirational address from May.

The entire event was made possible by The Boca Raton, as Men Giving Back sends 100% of its donations to local charities.

"We were so pleased with the turnout of our fellow members and their guests in support of our mission," said Eddie Ventrice, one of the organization's founding members. "We welcome generous, giving men into our ‘fun and philanthropic’ organization where, together, we can make a huge difference in our community."

Men Giving Back of South Palm Beach County originated three years ago by a small group of motivated men from business, finance, health care, hospitality and law backgrounds. Last year, the organization, which focuses on a variety of issues ranging from education to mental health service, raised $450,000 and this year hopes to exceed $750,000 in grants.
