Where to Play, Eat & Shop in Toy Story Land

Oct 25, 2023

Are you ready for an animated adventure unlike anything else at the Walt Disney World Resort? Then you’ll definitely want to experience Toy Story Land at Disney's Hollywood Studios, where you’ll shrink down to the size of a toy for a whimsical journey through Andy's Backyard.

But just what can you do in this Toy Story-themed land? Whether you’re visiting as a family with young children or with a group of grown-ups, there's something for everyone in this larger-than-life part of Hollywood Studios, from exciting rides starring your favorite characters to delicious dining that will take your taste buds to infinity and beyond. So, put on your cowboy hat and a pair of spurs and grab your Buzz Lightyear action figure as we journey together into this supersized playground filled with exciting adventures that only Andy's Backyard can provide.

Has your little one (or you!) ever wished they could hang out with Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head, Slinky Dog, Bo Peep and the rest of the Toy Story gang? Well, at Toy Story Land in Disney's Hollywood Studios, now you can. Located right next door to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge and just a short walk from both Animation Courtyard and the new Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway in the Chinese Theater, Toy Story Land is an easy addition to your Hollywood Studios day.

However, the Walt Disney World Resort isn't the only place you can delve into the world of Toy Story. Themed lands devoted to everyone's favorite toys can also be found at other Disney Parks across the globe, including Shanghai Disneyland Park, Hong Kong Disneyland and Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris, where it is known as Toy Story Playland. Though these Toy Story-themed lands may share the same inspiration and overall look, that's where the similarities end. While the international takes on Toy Story Land feature some of the same attractions, such as Slinky Dog Spin and RC Racer (also known as Rex's Racers at Shanghai Disneyland), the Walt Disney World offerings are completely unique when it comes specifically to Toy Story Land rides.

Not only do your favorite Toy Story characters spring to life in this adorable corner of the theme park, but the playful world of the beloved Pixar film does, too. Toy Story Land's theming is designed to make you feel like an "honorary toy," with oversized versions of classic playthings sprinkled around as if they’re waiting for Andy to return from school, or maybe a visit to Pizza Planet.

Here, wandering beneath strings of giant Christmas lights past things like oversized Tinkertoys and massive building blocks, you can unleash your inner child like never before. Keep your eyes peeled as you walk around, and you’ll also spy a Green Army Patrol or two, who are keeping watch around Toy Story Land for Andy's return.

This entire part of the theme park is meticulously crafted and a true feast for the eyes, especially for nostalgic adults. There is a ton of fun details here, and you could honestly spend a couple of hours simply admiring the many thoughtful details, such as the LEGO trashcans, benches constructed out of dominoes and popsicle sticks (with the colored juice from the popsicles still remaining, naturally) and chairs made from Babybel cheese, a classic lunch box addition, at Woody's Lunch Box. All in all, it's cute, clever and just as enjoyable for the parents as it is for the kids.

Along with the incredible design details, there is also plenty to see, do and eat at Toy Story Land in Disney's Hollywood Studios. Here's everything that's available, from rides, character meet-and-greets and entertainment to palate-pleasing restaurants and merchandise outlets.

With three rides available to choose from, including two of the best attractions at Disney's Hollywood Studios, there's something for kids and kids-at-heart alike. Best of all, each of the Toy Story Land rides is open during Early Park Entry, the new version of Extra Magic Hours, meaning that guests staying at one of the Disney World hotels can capitalize on shorter lines before everyone else enters the park.

Take a spin through outer space on Alien Swirling Saucers. This carnival-style ride gets a Toy Story-themed upgrade inspired by the little green aliens that call the claw machine in Pizza Planet home. For this fun ride, you’ll hop in ride vehicles shaped like a toy rocket before being sent twirling to and fro. Each of the flying saucers is piloted by one of the green aliens, making for an especially adorable copilot. Just be sure to keep an eye out for The Claw as you zoom around.

Height Restriction: At least 32 inches (81cm) tall

Best for: All Ages

Just next door to Alien Swirling Saucers is Slinky Dog Dash, a family-friendly roller coaster that is sure to charm adrenaline junkies of all ages. For this popular ride, Andy has strapped Slinky Dog to his Dash & Dodge Mega Coaster play kit, meaning that riders sit in between his many coils. The coaster's track weaves throughout Andy's Backyard and features appearances by a few different Toy Story characters along the way, including Jessie, Rex and Wheezy.

Although Slinky Dog Dash is certainly a great roller coaster for the kids in your family, older guests will get a kick out of it. With two launches (the only coaster to do that at Disney World), a max speed of 40 miles per hour and 7.5 Gs of force, Slinky Dog Dash keeps guests coming back again and again. As one of the most in-demand rides at Hollywood Studios, the line here can get pretty long. So, consider upgrading your day with Disney Genie+ if you’d rather not wait it out.

Toy Story Mania is the ride that started it all. An interactive shooting arcade-style ride, guests don 3D glasses before setting out for the attraction. Then, it's time for a little friendly competition against your fellow riders. Similar to Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom, guests take aim at various targets as they move through the ride. However, rather than a dark ride-style setup with targets placed throughout various rooms, riders instead "shoot" at simulated objects on various themed screens designed after carnival games.

Originally part of neighboring Pixar Place, Toy Story Mania would often draw massive lines with hours-long wait times. Thankfully, following its third track expansion, experiencing Toy Story Mania has gotten a whole lot easier. After the opening of the new Toy Story Land, there is also an all-new entrance. Can't get enough of Toy Story Mania? You’re in luck! The ride is also located in Disney California Adventure Park at the Disneyland Resort, where it's known as Toy Story Midway Mania, as well as Tokyo DisneySea.

Looking for something else to do in Toy Story Land in between rides on Slinky Dog Dash? You’ll also find a few different entertainment offerings, from character meet-and-greets to a toe-tapping performance by a band of Green Army Men. Check the My Disney Experience app for showtime and character appearance times.

If you need to put a little pep in your step, be sure to check out a performance by the Green Army Drum Corps. This mini-concert by some Green Army Men drummers is sure to leave you both in awe of their impressive rhythms and feeling ready to tackle the rest of your day.

You can't go to Toy Story Land and not make time to meet the Toy Story gang. A handful of Andy's favorite toys make appearances throughout the day, including Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Jessie. As an honorary toy, you get to meet them, so be sure to stop by, pose for a picture and maybe even get an autograph.

Toy Story Land is arguably the most family-friendly part of Disney's Hollywood Studios, and we aren't just talking about rides. Restaurants here cook up an approachable selection of cozy comfort foods that even the pickiest of eaters will love, whether you’re craving BBQ or something worthy of an afterschool snack.

The opening date for the newest Toy Story Land restaurant, Roundup Rodeo BBQ, is right around the corner, and we couldn't be more excited. Set to start serving in less than a week, Roundup Rodeo BBQ will be the newest table-service restaurant at Hollywood Studios. Hungry guests will dine on hearty portions of smoky, saucy meats (or "meats") and cookout-worthy sides, all served family-style.

Just like the rest of Toy Story Land, the theming here is a true delight. For this whimsical eatery, Andy has used three cardboard boxes cut to make a rodeo arena for all of his toys. So, as you bite into your ribs or nosh on some macaroni & cheese, be sure to look around at the playful visual details, such as Jessie riding on the back of a Trixie pull toy and Bo Peep readying her sheep for the rodeo.

Located not too far from both Slinky Dog Dash and Toy Story Mania is Woody's Lunch Box, a counter-service restaurant dishing up a small-but-mighty selection of comfort food fare like a Grilled Three-Cheese Sandwich with Tomato-Basil Soup and loaded tater tots in an adorable setting. You’ll especially want to save some room for one or two (or three) of the tasty Lunch Box Tarts, which are Disney's take on a classic Poptart

As you can probably guess from the name, Woody's Lunch Box is "made" out of Andy's Woody's Round Up lunch box. If you look around, you’ll even notice some of his snacks have been turned into furniture or construction materials. Just keep in mind that this quick-service restaurant is located entirely outdoors and only certain tables are shaded. So, be prepared to have an alternative plan if you’re looking for something with A/C or it happens to be raining.

No matter if you’re looking for a new toy to take home with you or a t-shirt starring Slinky Dog to commemorate your visit, there's a good chance you’ll find it in Toy Story Land. Along with one official store, Jessie's Trading Post, there are also two smaller merchandise carts located throughout Toy Story Land: one shaped like a toy dump truck not too far from the entrance to Toy Story Mania and the another designed to look like a toy camper near Slinky Dog Dash. So, be sure to check both of those out, too, if you can't find what you want after going on Toy Story Mania.

Located at the exit to Toy Story Midway Mania, Jessie's Trading Post is your one-stop shop for all things Toy Story. Here you’ll find a wide assortment of unique gifts for the aspiring astronaut or wannabe cowgirl (or cowboy) in your life, including toys, apparel, pins and other collectibles.
